Ben Friedman
Ben Friedman is a songwriter and producer from Santa Rosa Beach, FL. Never one to occupy a single genre, he has written and produced music over a wide spectrum of styles. In 2003 Friedman formed Free Monica, an acoustic pop-rock band, with local singer/songwriter, Kyle LaMonica. The band released two full-length studio albums before his desire to seek other forms of expression pulled him in other directions. Some of his notable projects include alternative hard-rock band Stealing Mona, a reggae album titled “Roadblock Runna” featuring local artist, Donnie Sundal, and a collection of Nashville-produced Country songs. Currently, Ben Friedman is composing electronic music for an upcoming video game and his compositions have been featured on Free Surf Magazine and Billabong TV. He has also been producing and engineering out of Neptone Recording Studio in Destin where he has worked with such names as Sam Bush, Colonel Bruce Hampton, and Zach Deputy, and most recently produced and engineered the album “Out Here” from the local reggae-rockers, Heritage. Although Friedman usually performs his tech-enhanced, genre-crossing live show as a solo act, he often shares the stage with former bandmate Kyle LaMonica as well as a many other local artists.
